Let's Go Fishing

Ages: 1 1/2 to 8 Years 

Materials
  • A small fishing pole or a string tied to a stick
  • Magnet
  • Paper clips
  • Scissors
  • Tape or Glue
  • Cardboard box

 
Self-Made Fishing Pole and Catch 

Tie the magnet to the fishing line or string.  Cut small fish shapes from construction paper and attach a paper clip to each fish. Decorate the sides of the cardboard box with construction paper fish and seaweed shapes. Put the fish in the box. 

Game
 
Have the children sit in a semicircle around the cardboard box "ocean". Let them take turns "fishing". This can also be set up as a dramatic play center rather than a group game.
