Click here for fishing for letters.

Ages: 1 1/2 to 8 Years

  • A small fishing pole or a string tied to a stick
  • Magnet
  • Paper clips
  • Scissors
  • Tape or Glue
  • Cardboard box

Self-Made Fishing Pole and Catch

Tie the magnet to the fishing line or string.  Cut small fish shapes from construction paper and attach a paper clip to each fish. Decorate the sides of the cardboard box with construction paper fish and seaweed shapes. Put the fish in the box.

Have the children sit in a semicircle around the cardboard box "ocean". Let them take turns "fishing". This can also be set up as a dramatic play center rather than a group game.
